From THE COLUMBUS (NE.) TELEGRAM, July 21, 1905-
JOHANNES--Mrs. Maria Johannes, widow of Henry Johannes, died Wednesday afternoon at five o'clock at her home fourteen miles northeast of this city, after an illness of three weeks which resulted in a severe type of typhoid fever. The funeral will be held this forenoon at eleven o'clock at the German Lutheran church in Bismark township, Pastor Frese conducting the service. Mrs. Johannes was in her sixty-eighth year. She was born at Oldenburg, Germany, October 16, 1837. In February, 1862, she was married to Henry Johannes, and together they came to America in 1867. For many years they resided in this county. Mr. Johannes died in 1898. The bereaved family consists of eight children, all of whom reside in this vicinity. They are Mrs. Gesine Linderman, Mrs. Anna Kumpf, Mrs. Wilhelmina Barjenbruch, Misses Josephina and Louisa Johannes, and William, John and Paul Johannes. [ColfaxDeutschlandPlatte.FBK.FTW]
