LEIGH -- Harold J. Mohnsen, 88, of Leigh died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Leigh with the Revs. Scott and Charlotte Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Leigh Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Friday at Leigh Memorial Funeral Chapel and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Mr. Mohnsen was born Sept. 21, 1913, on a farm north of Leigh to John and Frieda (Flamme) Mohnsen. He attended District 54 rural Leigh School in Colfax County and graduated from Leigh High School in 1931.
He married Esther Claussen on May 17, 1940, in Leigh. He farmed all of his life south of Leigh. In 1985, they moved to Leigh. He became a resident of Stanton Nursing Home in September.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards.
He was a member of the church. He served on the church council. He was treasurer for District 46 in Colfax County and also was secretary for Colfax County Farmers Union.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Rosalind Mohnsen of Boston; one granddaughter; three brothers, Irvin (Meta) Mohnsen of Leigh, Earl (Phoebe) Mohnsen of Van Nuys, Calif., and Oliver (Darlene) Mohnsen of Stone City, S.D.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Andrea Esposito; and one infant sister.
