  _P_CCINFO 2-14330 From The Gass-Haney Funeral Home Archives- Gertrude Michaelsen, 90, of Columbus, Nebraska, died October 17, 2001 at the Schuyler Nursing Center, Schuyler, Nebraska. A memorial service will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Saturday, October 27, 2001 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Douglas Zurek officiating. Interment will be at the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be held at the funeral home with family receiving friends from 10:00 AM until service time on Saturday, October 27, 2001. Gertrude was born north of Columbus, Nebraska on April 3, 1911 to Henry and Lina (Grossnicklaus) Luchsinger. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church (Shell Creek) and received her education at District #10. She married Walter Michaelsen on August 12, 1931 in Ord, Nebraska. They farmed near Richland, Nebraska and north of Columbus until 1942 when they moved to Harvard, Nebraska. After the death of her husband on June 10, 1944, the family moved back to Columbus. In 1967 she moved to Norfolk, Nebraska to be near her daughter. While residing in Norfolk, she was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the Garden Gate Garden Club and secretary of the Norfolk Women's Garden Council. She returned to Columbus in 1976. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church , Trinity's Ladies Aide and Naomi's Women's Group.
