Ora Bakenhus, 84, of Elberon, Iowa died January 20, 2004 at the VA Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 24, at 10:30 AM at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Columbus with Rev. Dr. Paul Rowoldt officiating. Interment is in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, January 23 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Saturday from 9:30 - 10:30 AM at the church.
Ora Bakenhus was born October 2, 1919 in Leigh, Nebraska to Oscar & Martha (Otte) Bakenhus. He attended Christ Lutheran School in rural Columbus. He served with the U.S. Army during WW II with the 696 Petroleum Distribution Co. He married Evelyn Rammelsberg in 1946. Ora worked as a machinist in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and was a life long farmer.
