From THE COLUMBUS (NE.) TELEGRAM, April 6, 2005-
COLUMBUS - Robert "Bob" Iverson, 80, of Columbus died Monday, April 4, 2005, at Columbus Community Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus with the Rev. Douglas Zurek officiating. Burial is at Creston Pioneer Cemetery in rural Leigh at 1 p.m. Thursday.
Visitation will be today from 4-8 p.m. at Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus and on Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church, with a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. Memorials are suggested to the family or donor's choice.
Mr. Iverson was born Oct. 10, 1924, in rural Leigh, to Albert and Anna (Sorenson) Iverson. He attended District 43 School and graduated from Leigh High School. He married Geraldine "Gerry" Jenny on April 19, 1947, in Columbus. They farmed in rural Platte County until 1969 when they moved to Columbus. He then went to work for Lakeview High School where he was a custodian for 22 years.
He was a Sunday school teacher at St. John's Lutheran Church in Leigh and St. John's Lutheran Shell Creek. He was also involved with the church choirs. When they moved into Columbus, he became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he helped with the ministry at Beverly Healthcare and Prairie Village. He coached Little League baseball at Lakeview and was a member of the Sertoma Club.
Survivors include his wife; daughter Bonnie (Larry) Christensen of Columbus; two sons, Gene (Karen) Iverson of Boise, Idaho, and Michael (Corenna) Iverson of Campbell; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Brian Iverson; sister, Eloise Sell; and two brothers, Arnold Iverson and Lowell Iverson.
