CLARKSON -- Helen D. Asche, 94, of Clarkson, formerly of Leigh, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at the Golden Living Center in Clarkson where she had resided for the past 14 months.
The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at Zion Lutheran Church in Leigh, with Pastor Terry Timm officiating. Committal will be in Zion Cemetery in Leigh. Lunch will be at the church school.
Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, at Leigh Memorial Chapel.
Helen was born Oct. 14, 1914, near Leigh, to Fred and Mary (Hockemeier) Herbst. On Aug. 30, 1936, she married LaVern Asche at Zion Lutheran Church in Leigh. They lived and farmed in the Leigh area. Helen was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Zion Sewing Circle and the Merry Farmerettes. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and playing cards.
She is survived by two daughters, Marlene (Milo) Dvorak of Garland, Texas, Marva (Curt) Dowty of Belleville, Ill.; one sister, Lorinda Einspahr of North Platte; sister-in-law, Lorinda Asche; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Irene Herbst; and two brothers, Ed and Fred Herbst, Jr. Condolences to the family can be sent at www.revbluejeans.com.
