LEIGH -- Libbie A. Fuhr, 85, of Leigh died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at Countryside Home in Madison.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Congregational Church in Leigh with the Rev. Gail Axen officiating. Burial will be at Leigh Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Funeral Chapel in Leigh and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at the church in Leigh.
Mrs. Fuhr was born Aug. 16, 1917, north of Leigh in Stanton County to Thomas and Mary (Volse) Hekrdle. She attended rural District 48 School in Stanton.
She married Earl Fuhr on Feb. 26, 1946, in Leigh. They farmed north of Leigh all of their married lives, and moved to Leigh in 1979. In March 2000, she entered Colonial Manor in Clarkson, then moved to Countryside Home in Madison in November 2000.
She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Stanton and was a Gold Star Sister. She also served as a Deaconess on the board of the Congregational Church in Leigh.
She loved gardening, flowers, bingo and family.
Survivors include her husband of Leigh; three sons, Donald (Linda) Fuhr of Osceola, Rodney (Mary Jo) Fuhr of Columbus and Michael (Robin) Fuhr of Leigh; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; and two sisters, Lil Hollman and Emily Fuhr, both of Leigh.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Jake Hekrdle, Joe Hekrdle and Bill Hekrdle; two sisters, Mary Houdek and Anna Houdek; and one granddaughter.
