Rosa, the second child of Louis and Anna Ahrens Groteluschen, was born January 11, 1900, at Gray, Iowa. Rosa was baptized on February 11, 1900, and confirmed on March 31, 1912, both at Trinity Lutheran in Lincoln Township, Audubon County, Iowa. After graduating from Gray High School in 1915, Rosa started working at the Farmers Savings Bank of Gray where she worked for five years.

On November 6, 1920, she married John (Jack) Keat at Trinity Lutheran Church. They had four children, Kenneth, Clarice, Leola and Donna. They farmed near Gray when they were first married, later moving to a different farm.

This is the home with the big summer kitchen. Rosa was an excellent cook. She is remembered for her chicken and homemade noodles. She was a homemaker all her life; she always had a big garden and made hundreds of quilts for her church service project.

After they retired from farming in 1950, they moved to Harlan, Iowa where she worked for the school system in food preparation. In 1966, they moved to Manning. Her husband, Jack, died at home on October 7, 1973.

Rosa remained in her home until July of 1992, when she became a resident of the Manning Plaza Nursing Home. She died there on March 20,1997, at the age of 97 years, 2 months and 9 days.

Rosa was a very charitable, generous, good natured woman. She was a thrifty person and I remember her telling me she would pick up the fallen apples from her church in Manning and cook them.

Rosa is buried by her husband in Manning Cemetery in Manning, Iowa.
