COLUMBUS - Donald Everett, 76, of Columbus, died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005, at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.
The funeral services will be Monday, Nov. 21, 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Leigh with Rev. Dr. Marsha Jark-Swain officiating. The interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3-7 p.m. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church with a 10:15 a.m. family prayer service.
Don Everett was born Aug. 30, 1929, in Central City to James C. Sr. and Maye (Hill) Everett. Don attended school in Grand Prairie, Texas. In 1948 he moved to Columbus. On March 12, 1950, Don married LouAnn Loseke at St. John's Lutheran Church, Shell Creek, in rural Columbus. He went to work for his dad as a truck driver and also drove for Behlen Mfg. as an independent trucker for 25 years. In 1989, Don and his sons opened Everett and Sons Trucking and Repair, which they operated until 1997. Don was a member of the Million Mile Club and the American Trucking Historical Society. After his retirement, Don drove the Senior Center Handi Bus for
several years. Don was a past church council member for St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed playing cards, wood working and playing dominoes at the senior center.
Don is survived by his wife LouAnn Everett of Columbus; three daughters, Jeanette (Ed) Sitzman of Columbus, Mary (Dan) Cerny of Columbus, and Carolyn (Monty) Koch of
Creston; two sons, Dave (Connie) Everett of Columbus, and Kurt (Cindy) Everett of Scottsbluff; 10 grandchildren; five step grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; half brother James C. (Joyce) Everett Jr. of Dannebrog; two half sisters, Nancy Sherritt of Omaha, and Sharron Badalucco of Pine Bluff, Ariz.; and mother-in-law Vera Loseke of Columbus.
Don was preceded in death by his parents James C. Sr. and Maye Everett.
