Lena graduated from Leigh, NE. High School in 1926. She then worked for the Ready To Wear Store and the owner transferred her to Fort Scott, KS.
In 1999, Lena remembered walking to school as a child in temperatures as low as twenty below zero F.

Lena Maria Sellers, age 97, a former resident of 623 S. Crawford, and more recently of the Medicalodge, died early Friday, July 30, 2004, at the Medicalodge. She was born June 19, 1907, in Leigh, Nebraska, the daughter of Claus Ehlers and Maria Wulf Ehlers. She married Joseph Claude Sellers in 1949, at Fort Scott. He preceded her in death in 1986. Lena was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Restoration Branch.
Survivors include a son Robert J. Sellers, Sand Springs, Oklahoma, a daughter, Barbara Barnes, Tulsa, Oklahoma, seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, J. D. Sellers, five brothers and four sisters.
Elder Dale Crown and Elder Joe Beckham will conduct grave side services at 11:30 a.m. Monday, August 2, 2004, at the Evergreen Cemetery. Family and friends may meet at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel prior to leaving for the cemetery at 11:15 a.m. Memorials are suggested to the Church of Jesus Christ Restoration Branch and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Fort Scott, KS 66701.
