She was active in the Lutheran Church Ladies Aid and was a Sunday School Superintendent for many years. She moved to Marysville, KS. in 1987. There she was a member of the Calvary Ladies Friendship Circle. She volunteered her time at the nursing home there and was "Volunteer of the Year" in1994. Nephew Bill Ehlers remembers, "In 1991 I visited with Aunt Katie in Marysville. She was then 86 years old and told me that she liked to help out the OLDER PEOPLE at the nursing home."
