Dorothy Mae Grotelueschen, 85, of Columbus, Nebraska died Wednesday, January 24, 2007, at the Hearthstone Nursing Home in York, Nebraska.
The funeral service will be Saturday, January 27, 10:30 A.M. at the Christ Lutheran Church in rural Columbus with Rev. John E. Nelson, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Saturday from 9:30 - 10:30 A.M. at the church with a family prayer service at 10:15 A.M. Memorials may be directed to "Christ Lutheran School, in honor of Harold, Dorothy, and Grant Grotelueschen", 32312 122nd Ave, Columbus, NE, 68601or to the "Lakeview Foundation, Grant Grotelueschen Scholarship Fund", 3744 83rd St., Columbus, NE, 68601.
Dorothy Mae Grotelueschen was born February 3, 1921 in Columbus to Diedrich and Emma (Hollmann) Dirks. She was married to Harold Grotelueschen on October 9, 1940. They lived on a farm North of Columbus where they raised seven children.
Dorothy was a life-long member of Christ Lutheran Church where she was confirmed, married and served on Ladies Aid, Lutheran Womens Mission League, Lutheran Laymens League, Christian Growth for Both and Parent Teachers League. She served her community as a Precinct Voting Judge and member of Platte County Extension Club. She was an excellent gardener, baker, and seamstress; however, she was best known for her thoughtfulness to others.
Her children remember Dorothy for her love and commitment to family, faithfulness to her husband, and dedication to the Lord.

Daughter-in-law: Jo Grotelueschen of Columbus, NE
