      From THE COLUMBUS (NE.) TELEGRAM, January 15, 2001-

      VIENNA, Va. - Peter Henry Claussen Jr., 79, of Vienna, Va., died Sunday,
      Jan. 14, 2001, at Northern Virginia Hospice in Arlington, Va.

      Services were Jan. 17 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Vienna with the Revs.
      Jerry Lia Braaten and Jeff Lindsay officiating. Burial was at St. Paul's
      Lutheran Cemetery in Fulton, Md.

      Mr. Claussen was born April 7, 1921, in rural Stanton County to Peter and
      Elsie (Dasenbrock) Claussen and attended District 31 School. He graduated
      from Leigh High School and Midland Lutheran College.

      He married Marian Roberts May 27, 1943, in Hooper. He went to Washington on
      Dec. 7, 1941, and worked in the office of Gen. George C. Marshall. For a
      short time, he was employed at the Central Intelligence Agency. In 1953, he
      went to work for the National Security Agency, retiring in 1980.

      He served as president of Calypso Condo in Ocean City, Md., president of the
      Vienna Community Police Association and secretary of Towns of Moorefield
      Citizens' Association.

      He also served as church council president.

      Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mary (Alan) Greenbaum of Vienna;
      one son, Peter H. Claussen III of Omaha; three grandchildren; and one
      sister, Esther Mohnsen of Leigh.
