      From THE COLUMBUS (NE.) TELEGRAM, August 7, 2007-

      FREMONT - Helen Kucera, age 95 years, of Fremont, formerly of Clarkson, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, at Merrick Manor in Fremont.

      Funeral services for Helen will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9, at New Zion Presbyterian Church in Clarkson. Burial will be at Clarkson National Cemetery.

      Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home in Clarkson. Visitation will resume Thursday at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m.

      Helen was born April 2, 1912, to Blahous and Anna (Stoklasa) Chleboun, at Stanton, where she grew up. On Jan. 28, 1936, she married William J. Kucera at New Zion Presbyterian Church in Clarkson. They made their home on a farm one and one-half miles east of Clarkson. Helen lived in Clarkson until 2002 when she moved to Fremont.

      Helen was an active member of New Zion Presbyterian Church, member of Marta Circle and a leader of church senior high fellowship. She was a church circle member in both Clarkson and Fremont. Helen was also a 4-H leader and a member of Spicy Farmerette extension club.

      She enjoyed playing cards, sewing, gardening, traveling and her computer work, but most especially she enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

      Survivors include her children, William D. (Dee) Kucera of Herrin, Ill., Carol A. (Jack) Claton of Aurora, Colo., and Green Valley, Ariz., Janet (Don) Nosal of Fremont, Diane (Bruce) Cochrane of Fort Dodge, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Karen Hascall-Kucera of Omaha; 14 grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren.

      She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, William who died in 1991; a son, Kendall A. Kucera; two sisters and six brothers.

      It was Helen's desire that memorials be made to New Zion Presbyterian Church, Clarkson opera house, Clarkson Hospitality Center or Fremont Presbyterian Church in lieu of flowers.

      Miller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
