      From THE COLUMBUS (NE.) TELEGRAM, September 19, 2003-

      COLUMBUS - Annie Bridges, 96, of Columbus, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003, at her home.

      Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 15, at Gass Haney Funeral Home. Burial is in the Leigh City Cemetery.

      Visitation will be 4-7:00 p.m. today at the funeral home, with a family prayer service Monday at 10:15 a.m.

      Mrs. Bridges was born July 30, 1907, in Colfax County, a daughter of Robert and Alma (Loseke) Welch. She attended rural country schools in Colfax County.

      On April 13, 1944, she was united in marriage to Earl Bridges. They farmed near Leigh, until moving to Columbus in 1955, where Annie worked for several years at the hospital.

      She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was also a member of the Ladies Aid. She was active in the Columbus Senior Center and enjoyed playing cards, crocheting and spending time with her family.

      Survivors include a son: Myron (Louise) Bridges of Columbus; two sisters: Mabel Kasper of Schuyler and Vera Loseke of Columbus; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a sister-in-law: Ruth Wurdeman of Columbus.

      She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother, Pete Welch, and a sister, Maggie Mackenstadt.

      Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church.
